Precocious sold
The 1971 Dominion Handicap winner, Precocious, has been purchased by Mr John Tweddle, of Cloverdale Stud, Mooroopna, Victoria. One of the top trotting mares of recent years, Precocious numbered the Trotters’ Grand Final at the 1973 Inter-Dominion Championship series in Sydney among her many successes for her Auckland owner, Mr A. H. Carmichael.
Precocious, by Johnny Globe, tracing back to the imported mare, Berthabell, is in f.oal to Perfecto Hanover. Her filly foal by Great Evander has been retained by Mr Carmichael.
Helen Glenfern, an impressive qualifier recently for her Prebbleton trainer, Sam Ballantyne, has been purchased by Mr John Bagshaw, of Sydney, one of the principals of the stud which recently paid $30,000 for Van Glory at auction in Christchurch. Van Glory was put into work, but has gone amiss.
The sales were negotiated by Mr Peter Rennell, of Christchurch, the New Zealand representative of the Sydney-based company, Parramatta Livestock Agency.
