Arts Council grant $1.45m
(N.Z. Press Association}
WELLINGTON.
The grant to the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council for 1976-77 from the Consolidated Revenue Account would be $1.45m, the Minister for the Arts- (Mr Highet) said.
This represented a reduction of $50,000 on last year’s grant from this source. However, an increased grant from lottery profits would compensate for this, and give a total grant of $1.85m compared with $ 1.785 m last year. The grant fell well short of the figure sought by the Arts Council, but in the present economic circumstances the arts had to bear their share of restraints on Government expenditure.
