S.M. orders suppression of evidence
Evidence relating to the alleged murder of a 55-year-o]d woman near the Summit. Road two months ago. was suppressed during the taking of depositions in the Magistrates Court on 1 hursday. Mr J. D. Kinder, S.M.. made an order prohibiting publication of a statement made to the police by a man who was later charged with murder. The accused had made the statement after nine hours questioning by the police. The suppression order was requested by defence counsel. The accused is charged with the murder of Dorothy Joy Christie, of Sprevdon, on or about February 17. The four-day hearing ended on Thursday, and the accused man was remanded to the Supreme Court for trial. A detective sergeant was the sixteenth and last witness to give evidence for the Crown
