Three rape charges
A 21-year-old factory worker facing three charges of rape, was remanded for trial to the Supreme Court, after a two-dav hearing of depositions in the Magistrate's Court. It was alleged that the defendant had taken a 17-year-old girl to Kaiapoi on the back of a motor-cycle, and after threatening to kill her. had raped her twice. He was also accused of raping a friend of the first complainant a week earlier, 4fter threatening her also. The remand is to be in custody.
