Leisure time
Sir, — I know some women for whom sewing is a relaxation, as reported in your leading article. For others it is well down the list of favourite leisure-time activities; for me, and for others like me. it is a chore and a bore. The advantage of television over such delights as reading is that the conscientious mother or grandmother can knit or crochet while being entertained. If there are women (or men) interested in using their skills in such activities, may I suggest that homes or hospitals for senior citizens are grateful for knee rugs, etc, and suitable oddments of wool for these can often be picked up cheaply — a worth-while community service. — Yours, etc., M. PARRY. April 12. 1976.
