Runners urged to protest
Cross-country’ runners throughout " Canterbury have been urged to support the Olympic Games selection protest meeting in the Square tonight. The Canterbury’ crosscountry centre committee, at its meeting on Tuesdayevening, discussed the omission of five athletes nominated for the New Zealand team and decided unanimously to “urge all cross-country runners in Canterbury and the public of Christchurch to support Tony’ Gavigan (the meeting organiser) at the protest meeting.” In addition, the committee pledged its support to the Canterbury Athletic Association in anv moves to have the two-tier system of selection for Olympic and Commonwealth Games rescinded.
