N.Z. horseman placed

(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The Waikato horseman, P. V. (Paul) Harris, today finished fourth in the three-day equestrian event at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney. Harris was in third place after the first two days, but jumped badly in the show ring today to drop one place. He knocked over five of the 14 fences, incurring 50 penalty points, whereas most of his rivals had clear rounds or lost just 10 points for one fence down. The 19-year-old Harris was disappointed with his round, though pleased to finish at all. Only six of the original 16 starters completed all three days of the tough event. which included a 15 miles cross-country and steeplechase with 41 obstacles on the second day. The event was won by the 63 year old Bill Roycroft.
