Sydney racegoers are wondering* if it is some sort of Kiwi plot—the favourites for all three feature races on the Sydney Easter programme arc trained by New Zealanders, and are quartered together at the stables of a fourth Kiwi. Oopik 'Sydney Cup l . Baimerino (Champion Stakes), and Wave King <Doncasteri are all at the stables of Harold Riley, a former New Zealander who now operates at Warwick Farm. Oopik is trained by David O’Sullivan. Baimerino by Brian Smith and Wave King by Jim !Hely, the former Waikato jumps jockey’ who is now a successful trainer, based at Mornington, ! near Melbourne. The stable reported yesterday (that Balmerino’s injury, suffered : on Tuesday in a horse float i during a trip from Warwick > Farm to Rand wick, is not serious and should not impair his preparation for the Champion Stakes on Saturday.
