(N Z Press Association) . DUNEDIN. Steel Heart showed that he would be the horse to! beat in the Champagne i Stakes at Riccarton next Monday, with a fine gallop at Awapuni yesterday. The grey has freshened well since the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes in which he ( was unplaced. Eric Temperton has a strong team at Feilding on I Saturday and several of hisi candidates went well, no-i tably the Feilding Cup can-[ didate, Charger. On the inside trial Steel Heart had the pace on throughout 1000 m in 1:1.4, the last 600 m in 38sec. He looks at peak fitness for the tr ; p south.. Fraxv and Guido ran 1200 m in 1:17. the last 600 m in 38sec. Fraxy has not raced for a few weeks. He looks ready to go well in the Martinborough Handicap at the Wairarapa meeting. Astrida was in front of Pipe Opener at the end of 1000 m in 1:3, the last 600 m in 39sec. Astrida worked in the style of an improver.

i Koreign wasted no time running 1000 metres in 1:1.4, [ the last 600 in 36.8. Mr Million and Gayell did well to run 1000 metres in 1:2, the last 600 in 38. Mr Million should excel during the Easter racing.

Tic Toe, which may go to Riccarton for Easter racing, took 1:2.6 for 1000 m, the last 600 m in 37.65ec. He is' getting close to good form. On the plough Charger ;and Bleu Streak travelled well throughout 1200 metres in 1:16.6, the final 600 m in 36.65ec. Charger has improved since his Waver’.ey race.

There was little between Imascamp and Stylish Sovereign at the end of 800 m in 50.6 sec, the last 600 m in 36.65ec.

Norton Park completed 1000 m in 1.4, the last 600 m in 38sec and Cullinan ran 1.5 for a similar task the final 600 m in 39.8 sec.

The Wairarapa candidate Anaglow led Tudor Flute at the end of 1400 metres in 1:33 and Maserati and Abercita ran 1200 m in 1:16.4, the last 600 m in 36.8 sec. Take All sprinted the last 600 m of

800 m in 38.5 and Pearr Hagen and Exotic took 1:16.4 for 1200 m, the last! 600 m in 39.8. Pearl Hagen looks a good prospect at| Wairarapa while Exotic is likely to race at Riccarton. Beauty Spot and Invitation sprinted 800 m in 50.6 sec, the last 600 m in 37.65ec. Beauty Spot will be hard to beat over 1000 m at Wairarapa.

Animation completed 1000 m in 1:3. the last 600 m in 38sec and Dinah Mite and Yanuca shaded Set Aside over 1400 m in 1:32, the last 600 m in 40sec.

On Edge and Falla did well to run 800 m in 49.45ec, the last 600 sec in 36.45ec. Turakina was impressive over 1200 m in l:l6sec, the last 600 m in 37.25ec. She was unlucky 7 at Waverley last week and could make amends at Feilding. Red Mellay ran the last 600 m of 1400 m in 40sec and Brol Marie sprinted 800 m in l 50.8 sec. the final 600 m in 38.4 sec. Royal Piper, Glandovey and Guess Who gave a first class display over six hurdles. They look promising winter prospects.
