New Zealanders perform well
(N.Z, Press Association) SYDNEY. New Zealand axemen and sawyers made an impressive start with one world championship and a good share of the handicap prize money at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show so far. Sonny Bolstad, of Rotorua, had his ninth win in the 450 mm single-handed sawing contest, which was billed as the world title for the event. Bolstad won from another New Zealander, Merv Jensen, of New Plymouth, in a time of 59.55ec.
Brian Trow (Waitakaruru) won the 300 mm standing chop and Dave Lamberton (Tokoroa) won the 300 mm handicap tree-felling contest.
Cricket. — Wisden’s five cricketers ot the year are lan Chappell and Rick McCosker of Australia, and the English players. Bob Woolmer, David Steele and Peter Lee.
