THE FOREST DISEASE CONTROL REGULATIONS 1967 Amendment to Declaration of “Infected Area” in Respect of Pine Needle Blight (Dothistroma pini) Pursuant to the Forest Disease Control Regulations 1967. I. Wellington, hereby amend the Declaration of Infected Area in respect of the forest disease pine needle blight (Dothistroma pini) into force on the sth day of September. 196/. as published m the Gazette of the 21st day r of September. 1967. and amended firstly by an amendment that came into force on the 23rd day of November, 1967. pg published jp the Gazette of the 14th dav of December. 1967. secondly by an amendment that came into force on the sth dav of March. 1969. as published in the Gazette of the 27th dav of March. 1969. thirdiv, bv an amendment that came into force on the 24th dav of December, 1971. as published in the Gazette of the 13th day of April. 1972. fourthly, bv an amendment tt>at came into force on the" 3<lth dav of August. 1973. as published in the fta-rette of the 22nd day of November. 1973, and fifthlv. bv an amendment that came into force on the sth day of May, 1975. as published in the Gazette of the 7th day of August, 1975. as follows: 1 Subnaraeraphs 1(h) and (c) (as so amended) are hereby deleted and the following subparagraphs are S”hstituted therefore: (b) Those parts of the Nelson and Marlborough Land Districts situated in the Waimea, Golden Rav. Inangabu. and Buller Counties, and that portion of Marlborough County hounded by the coastline from the point where the eastern boundarv of the Waimea ( ountv meets the sea. to Raransi. including Durville Islands, thence in a southerly and westerlv direction generally’ along the western and northern sides of the RarangiTaumarina Road to Taumarina - thence in a south-westeriv direction generally along the northern side of the Raituna-Taumerina Road to its junction with National State Highway No. 6: thence in a south-easterlv direction along the eastern side of the said State Highway’ to the north bank of the Wairau River: thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the north bank of the Wairau River to the common Waimea and Marlborough Countv boundarv. (c) That part of the Land District of Westland situated in Grev County’ and that portion of Westland Countv. north of the Makawhio River. Fettes Peak, Whitcombe Peak and the Hooker Range. 2. Subparagraphs 2(a). (b) and (c) (as so amended) are hereby deleted and the following subparagraphs are substituted therefore: (a) From the above-described area to any other land, with the following exceptions: in respect of all species of exotic pine (of genus Pinusl. Douglas fir (Psuedotsuga menziesii), Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis), and larch (of genus Larix). all tree seedlings and all trees or parts of trees used or intended to be used as Christmas trees. (b) Into the above-described infected area from any other land. (c) From any place or site within the abovedescribed infected area to any other place or site within the infected area with the exception of the bringing or removal of all species of pine, Douglas fir, Sitka spruce and larch from the under mentioned areas into other parts of the infected area, such under mentioned areas being the following: (i) The whole of the Land District of Taranaki. (ii) The whole of the Land District of South Auckland. (iii) That nart of the Land District of North Auckland situated generally south and east of the following line, namely a line commencing at the mouth of the Waikato River and following generally north-eastwards along the northern boundary of Raelan Countv to a right line crossing the Waikato River at right angles to its course to the junction of its east bank with the south bank of the Mangatawhiri River; thence generallv eastwards along the south bank of the last-mentioned river to State Highwav No. 1 and thence, following generallv northwards along the western side of State Highwav No. 1. to its intersection with the North Island "tain Trunk railwav line just south of Drurv: thence generally north along the western side of the aforementioned railway Une to the southern boundarv of the Borough of Paoakum: thence generallv east, north, and then west along the boundarv or said borough to its intersection with the west side of the Dominion Road- thence along the western side of the s»forementioned road to the intersection with the Paoak”ra-C!evedon Road; thence generallv north-eastwards along the north-west side of the last-mentioned road to its intersection with Mullins Road: thence generallv nnrth--»-ecrwards alone the western side of M’dins Road and of its continuation with Alfriston food to Manurewa Road, to Brookby School, thence genera l !” north and north-westwards along the western side of the Rrnokbv-Mmitford Road to the Tumnea Cre“k: and thence generallv nor+bwards along the east b-mk of the said c-eek to Tameki Strait. (iv) -rhe whole of the Land District of Gisborne. (v) Those parts of the Land District of Hawke’S Pav situated in Cook. Wairoa. Hawke’s Bay and Waioawa Counties. (vi) The whole of the Land District of Wetiington excluding the Counties of Pahiatua. Fkptahuno. Woodville. Dannex irke. Masterton. Wairarapa South and Featherston. NOTES: 1 This amendment comes into effect upon first publication in a newsnaner circulating in the infected area constituted Its purpose is to extend the previously’ declared ‘infected area.” 2 It is an offence to remove plants or Christmas tree material (branches, etc.) nut of the “infected area.” if these are of exotic pine. Douglas fir. Sitka spruce or larch species and have not been t—ated as specified by an authorised forest officer. 3. The ‘infected” area is now generally’ the whole of the North Island excluding the Kaitaia Borough and the Manaonui and Great Barrier Counties. In the South Island the “infected area” is all that land in Nelson and Marlborough Sounds to the west of the Wairau River and the Westland Land District north of the Makawhio River. Movement within the ‘infected area” is authorised with the exception that exotic pine, Douglas fir. Sitka spruce and larch material may not be moved from the areas listed in paragraph 2 (c) of the declaration (which is generallv the large area lying between Auckland Citv and Wellington City and the area east of the main ranges north of Takapau) into other parts of the “infected area.” 4.
