Foreman wins appeal

The appeal of the stable foreman, Ron Dawson, against a 12-month disqualification imposed by stewards was upheld by the Australian Jockey Club committee yesterday. Dawson is the Sydney stable foreman for Bart Cummings, who trains Count Mayo. The stewards opened an inquiry into the running of Count Mayo at Randwick on March 13 and later disqualified Dawson, the jockey, Peter Cuddihy, and a partowner, Mr Fred Calvin. The A.J.C. committee dismissed the appeals of Cuddihy and Mr Calvin. Immediately after hearing the decision Mr Calvin left the A.J.C. offices to lodge papers at the Equity Court seeking an injunction, claiming a “denial of natural jus-
