World champion to race at Ruapuna

The former world road racing champion, Hugh Anderson (Ohinewai). will make his first racing appearance at Ruapuna Park on Easter Sunday. The brilliant New Zealander, who won the world 50 and 125 championships as a works rider for Suzuki in the mid-19605, has entered the classic machine race on a 500 Manx Norton. Anderson Is the most accomplished road racer produced by New Zealand in terms of international victories. He has won 50 and 125 T.T. races in the Isle of Man and at one time held both race and lap records.

But he will not be the only famous New Zealander in the classic machine event. Rod Coleman (Wanganui), who won the Isle of Man junior T.T. in 1954 as a works rider for A.J.S., and Bob Bums (Christchurch), a former world sidecar speed re-cord-holder, have also entered. Both will ride 500 Manx Nortons. Kevin McCleary (Christchurch 1 * will be appearing on the 250 Joyce Velocette. He is still racing and will be among the favourites for the 125 and ultra light-weight (250) grand prix titles.
