Mr Pipe said he would write to boating organisations advising them of the storm cone. But many boat owners did not belong to clubs. The Close-to-Shore Search and Rescue Committee is made up of members of a number of boating organisations and meets every two months at the central police station to discuss matters relating to small boats. Mr Pipe said the Harbour Board had gone to some expense .to erect the storm cone, and his committee appreciated its action.
