The programme starts at a small regional meeting in Wanganui at which Walker raced in January and Snell set a new world mile record in 1962. The director, George An-
idrews, and his team look at the reaction of Walker and the people of Wanganui to the visit, then show the athlete at his job in Auckland as a sales representative for Radio i. This last race over 1500 metres at Mt Smart stadium on January 31. in which he
. was supposed to race against the Tanzanian Filbert Bayi, i is also shown. “Encounter” 1 then went with Walker to Los Angeles where he received the prestige athletics award. Unable to compete i himself, he watched fellow countryman Rod Dixon run ‘ at an md°°r meeting.
