DUNEDIN. Star Chance, a brilliant winner at Wyndham on Saturday will contest the New South Wales Derby next month, if air transport Is available. Ron Carter, who trains Star Chance and races him with his wife, Paddy, and Mr Reg Lewis, Hopes to take the son of Jack Chance and Gabrielle to Sydney at the end of the month.

The heatg of the Derby are on Friday, April 2 and the $17,500 final a week later over 2350 metres from the mobile barrier.

Star Chance will contest three-year-old races at the Metropolitan Easter meeting if the Australian trip is called off, but he is not eligible for the $6500 Three-year-old Championship on Easter Saturday. Star Chance had a couple of "wolf” teeth removed after his previous race at Invercargill and has since been eating better and taking the bit more kindly.
