Container terminal manager
The appointment of a
manager for Lyttelton’s container terminal was announced yesterday by the Lyttelton Harbour Board.
He will be Mr P. G. Morgan, an Australian, who is at present general manager of Freightbases Proprietary, Ltd, which runs container depots in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. The board received 47 applications for the position, including a considerable number from Australia. Mr Morgan, who is married, with an adult family, has lived in Australia for 20 years. He has a foreigngoing master’s certificate. Before he joined Freightbases he was employed by Trans-Ocean Containers Proprietary, Ltd, and helped in the design of handling systems for the Melbourne terminal and other depots.
Mr Morgan is expected to take up his new appointment within two or three months.
