Small rates write-off
Rates amounting to $756 had been written off, the finance, administration, and town planning committee of the Malvern County Council [was told. Included in this was $320.77 owed by three Canterbury ski clubs, which because they have a Forest Service lease, objected to [paving rates. Cr D. W. Mullholland said the clubs, Craigieburn, North Canterbury, and th e Ski Touring Club, used many of the council’s facilities. He asked that the committee write to the Forest Service about the leases. “The council is no better off than the ski clubs are,” said Cr Mullholland. Of the $387,821 rate struck for 1975-76 in the Malvern County, $12,512 remains outstanding, a slight increase on last year. A total of 97.51 per cent of the rates was collected. The 10 per cent penafrv has been applied to those still owed.
