Sustained buying helps firm Aust, market
Sustained buying, spilling over from Tuesday’s sharp upswing, helped most sectors of Australian stock exchanges to film yesterday.
I The continuing flow of' higher corporate results: I aided market sentiment, trad- ' lers said. I On the industrial boards, Woolworths stood out with a 12c advance to 138 c, after its annual results showed sales touching a new record of more than sAustlooom. B.H.P. closed with a 14c rise at 730 c, and Comalco firmed 10c to 170 c. Grace Bros, Waltons, C.S.R., 1.A.C., and A.C.I. made gains of up to 5c each, while Philip Morris was pushed 20c higher to 900 c. Dalgety rose another 10c to 410 c in a firm pastoral seci tor. Among the miners, Pancontinental was back in favour with a 60c rise to 1310 c. However, other uraniums like Kathleen. Queens-' Hand Mines and PekoiWallsend retreated under nrofit-taking pressure. A.M.S. rose 8c to 160 c, and C.R.A. 9c to 272 c. Oils I were generally steady. 1M.1.M., B.H. South. Bougainiville, Western Mining and Robe River showed improvements firmed up to 4c each.
