(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. I Amendments to the Heavy Motor Vehicles Regulations.) 1974, to make fire-fighting' appliances subject, to the! 'weight limits in the regulations. to make special pro-; vision for overweight permits! ;for fire-fighting appliances, ;and to make such permits| I subject to the road-| controlling authority, have: ’been sought from the Sec-j jretary of Transport by the) i National Roads Board. ; It wants the roadcontrolling authority to have the right to prohibit the use of specific routes or the crossing of specific culverts, bridges, or other structures. After a survey of axle weights by the Ministry of Transport’s axle weights and loadings committee, the committee had agreed that firefighting appliances “should be subject to the weight limits in the regulations but with special provision for reasonable overloading.”
