Pornography in U.S.
Sir, —In support of P.R.H. Maling, one cannot do better than quote from "Mrs Grundy: Studies in English Prudery,” by Peter Fryer. “It is only a minority of prudes who are hypocrites. The majority are unaware of their real motives. To a healthy person sex is a very important part, but only a part, of life . . . To the prude(s) the sexual activity of others is simultaneouslv inflammatory and disgusting, and of such obsessive interest that it is rarely far from their .thoughts. ... It is a constant and fascinating reminder of their own frustration and unhappiness.” Mr Fryer’s book should be made required reading for “a certain female avid reader of pornography,” and all her ilk.—Yours, etc., lAN HOOD.
