ANALYST/ PROGRAMMER ARTHUR ELLIS & CO LIMITED An mteresting and challenging opportunity has arisen for either an eipenenced systems analyst with some COBOL programming knowledge or an eipenenced COBOL programmer with some systems experience. The Company has decided to place an order for a Burroughs 8700 computer with 32K core, 4.6 million bytes of remora! disk, console, printer. This configuration is capable of being upgraded to 48K and up to 36.8 million bytes of disc. Beyond this point, the machine is eipendable to a 81700. Systems envisaged would involve the usual accounting functions followed by the exacting areas of production scheduling and control. The ultimate aim is an integrated management information system. While the position is that of Analyst' Programmer reporting to the Company Secretary, the promotion prospects would depend solely on the ability of the individual. The salary has been set at a high level so as to attract a person of high calibre and would be discussed at interview. As the system expanded, so would the responsibility and rewards. The Company is Dunedin based with manufacturing units in Christchurch and Palmerston North. The location of the position would be at Head Office in Dunedin.
