Absconded on bail
A man charged with rob-' •bing Lawrence Raymond .Hunt,- aged 59. at New Brighton on November 16, has absconded on bail. ■ according to the police. He is Thomas Goffe, also known as Tamate Rodgers, aged 28, an unemployed I freezing worker. However, a second man. aged 20, involved in the same alleged robbery, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. He entered no plea and was remanded 1 in custody to January 19 for the taking of depositions. Concerning Goffe. Sergeant J. R. Palmer told Mr N. L. Bradford. S.M., that the defendant had failed to report to the police while on bail to January 19 for the taking of depositions. The police asked for publication of his name to assist in finding him. The two defendants are alleged to have robbed Mr > Hunt of $300: a tape recorder, worth $3O: a radio worth $25: a wallet, valued at $2: and war medals and a t savings bank book.
