Hawke Bay well to be abandoned
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 9. BP Shell Aquitaine and Todd Petroleum Development. Ltd, announced today that their Hawke Bay-1 well will be abandoned. The well was drilled to 2372 metres. The start of interest were encountered at shallower depths than expected, so it was not necessary to drill to the planned depth of 3300 metres. During the course of drilling. methane gas traces were noticed at about 2255 metres, but not enough to have commercial significance. i
