Cleaver returns
The former Black Panther party leader, Eldridge Cleaver, has returned to Oakland, the city he fled in 1968 before starting a seven-year odyssey in exile. Cleaver was impassive when he ar< rived at the Alameda County’ Jail, his hands manacled in [ front of him. He will be arraigned on charges stem|ming from a 1968 shoot-out | between Black Panthers and ■ Oakland police. He had been [ sought since jumping ($50,000 bail.
