‘Too little TV bowls’
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. The organisers of the national bowls championships in Dunedin are highly disappointed with television coverage of the event. The finals of the pairs and singles played last Sunday afternoon have not yet been shown on television. In previous years they have been televised live. The Bowling Association has been told that the finals will be shown on Saturday afternoon. “We are most disappointed,” said the association’s president (Mr Pierre Devereux). “On Saturday afternoons a large proportion of the population will be playing or watching sport, or they’ll be at the beach.”
The news editor of TVI in Dunedin (Mr A. Brady) said he felt that the local news section had given the bowls championships “fair” coverage
