Choice of transport for N.Z. horses

The connections of New Zealand horses hound for the Benson and Hedges Inter-Dominion Championships at Globe Derby Park, Adelaide, next month will definitely have a choice of transport for

their horses on the second leg of the journey between Melbourne and Adelaide. Jack Rowe, trotting editor of the “Adelaide News”, telephoned “The Press” yesterday to reassure New Zealanders concerned about transport arrangements. He said that the South Australian Trotting Club was providing an aircraft for the transport of New Zealand horses between Melbourne and Adelaide but road transport would also be available for those who preferred it. Mr Rowe, acting for the club, said that there had been some concern in Adelaide because of rumours that some New Zealanders were considering by-passing the championships after a critical report, which apparently originated in Auckland, implied that there would lie road transport only for New Zealand horses between Melbourne and Adelaide. The New Zealand Trotting Conference hopes to be able to announce early next week the names oi the New Zealand horses which will be competing at the championships The pacers, Forto Prontezza, Robalan and Lunar Chance and the trotters, Easton Light and Hal Good have already been withdrawn from the series.
