Monty Python leading
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH.
With four wins from five starts, A. Geddes (Auckland) sailing Monty Python, is still dominating the B class section of the Rothmans national catamaran championships at Lake Brunner. H. P. Lyell (Auckland) is still leading in the Paper Tiger class from Quasar. D. Partington (Nelson). They have opened a gap on the field but one poor performance could see them back with the bunch. Carmen Geddes, B. Little (Tauranga), has been very impressive in the heavy winds, and could still capture first place if these conditions prevail for the rest of Saumerez, A. Jolly (Napier), is leading the A class, only slightly from Spintella. N. Codd (Wellington), and Katrina, C. Hensley (Canterbury), third. Seven races are run in the championships, with the crews dropping their worst performance when tallying up points. The boat with the lowest points wins the championship. Points so far are:— B class: Monty Python, 13.13. 1, Smokey, 16.3, 2; Cheval Bleau, M Haddon (Wellington), 3 A class: Saumerez. 13.7. 1; Spintella, 16, 2; Katrina, 17, 3; Canopus, 34. 4. Paper Tiger class: It, 23 4,1; Quasar, 26.4, 2; Peter Sake, P. Gray (Tirau), 47.7, 3. Junior: Peri. C. Winkle (Wanganui), 6.3. 1: Bobcat, B. Woolhouse (Greymouth). 9,2.
