Archery feat

DUNEDIN.
A Dunedin woman, Mrs L. Arnott, yesterday smashed the national free-style field archery record of 388 points with a score of 448 in the first round of the women’s field events at the national archery championships in Dunedin.
The men’s free style field record also fell during the day’s shooting. It was broken first by the Australian archer, J. Cotter, who raised the record from 496 to 501 points, and then Gary Wright, of Randwick, shattered the new record with a score of 528.
Yachting.—The smart English dinghy sailor. David Howlett, forced his way back Into the world Finn class yachting championship with a win in the fifth heat sailed on Waterloo Bay. in Brisbane, yesterday. Howlett, winner of the pre-Olympic regatta at Kingston, Canada, last July showed his true sailing ability to win the race from the Canadian, Sandy Riley, and a German skipper Hendrik Zachariassen.
