Selling unsettles Aust, market
Australian stock exchanges ended the day on a generally unsettled’ note in quiet trading yesterday.
Most mining and industrial leaders were sold down and this contributed to the market’s hesitancy — the first time this week the market has shown signs of slowing its advance.
On the mining boards, Consolidated Gold, Pancontinental, B.H. South, C.R.A., and Weeks found late support. However, Queensland Mines plunged 10c lower to 220 c, and Santos lost 6c at 132 c. Emperor, W.M.C., Kathleen, Hamersley, M.1.M., and Bougainville all eased, and coals were again vulnerable.
