Raffle winner may be Chch man
A Christchurch man, Mr ■ William Sawyers, may have won prizes worth SI 300 in a Christmas raffle in Victoria. Mr Sawyers, a seaman tn the Karen Tide, at present at New Plymouth, telephoned “The Press” early this morning to say that he thinks he ( is the man the Mildura; Lions Club is looking for—l to present with a raffle prize.: News of the club’s search: : for the Mr Sawyers from [ ! New Zealand was reported : by the Press Association yes-i terday. The raffle was drawn on i Christmas Eve, but all' ■ attempts to find Mr Sawyers! 'had failed. However, he took so I many tickets in lotteries and i raffles that he would not J know for sure until he returned to Christchurch in about two weeks and checked his tickets. Although his first name is I William, his nickname is Tom, and this is usually how ■he fills out raffle tickets.
