Sadat accuses Arab leaders of backing raid

President Anwar Sadat of Egypt said in an interview released in Cairo today that certain Arab leaders had financed the guerrilla raid on O.P.E.C. headquarters in Vienna last month, and described it as a “shameful and regrettable act.” In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper “AlSeyassa,” Mr Sadat did not name the leaders he had in mind. said Egypt badly needed an “economic transfusion” after being drained by preparations for the 1973 war with Israel. He said the country faced an estimated deficit of some $3864m this year. President Sadat also said in the interview that he had asked Prime Minister Salem to call a secret meeting of Parliartent and disclose the amount of Egypt’s military debts to the Soviet Union.
