Wellington and Auckland are the only unbeaten teams in section A, but the way Canterbury disposed of Nelson an dHawke’s Bay indicates that it will be a real danger in post-section play. Canterbury unleashed some devastating batting power in thumping Nelson, 11-3. Eleven safe hits were taken off the opposition pitching, Susannah Carroll getting three out of three, including a home run, and LynIley Watts three. : Nelson, which managed : three hits in reply, held CanI terbury t 0-0 until the top of the fourth innings, when Canterbury piled on five runs.
