Wool sale at Timaru brings $5m
GV.Z Press Association) TIMARU, Dec. 28. The “cheque” from the third wool auction of the 1975-76 season in Timaru on December 10 amounted to 85.194,409. according to figures released by the South Canterbury Woolbrokers and Stock and Station Agents' Association.
The proceeds are from the sale of 22.490 bales of greasy wool, including supplementary payments by the Wool Marketing Corporation. There were no supplementary payments at the corresponding sale last year.
The average price per • bale at auction was $224.70. 'rising to $230.96 with thesupplementary’ payments, ; compared with $153 at the [same sale in 1974, a rise of >5O per cent.
The prices per kilogram 'were 151.07 c (at auction) and 155.28 c (including supplementary), compared with 102 c. The sale of 144 bales of scoured wool realised, with the supplement, $32,726, to give averages of $227.26c a bale and 195.05 c a kilo. The auction also included a reoffering of Wool Marketing Corporation stocks, and the 122 bales sold for $24,714.06, an average of $202.57 a bale, or 144.43 c a kilo.
