Lyttelton marks its 125th year
Holy Trinity Church parishioners and friends spent a wearying but joyful day yesterday. | celebrating the 125th anniversary of Lyttelton and the church, j The day began with a de- ' dication service in Lyttelton (followed by a trek of about 1200 persons over the Bridle (Path to Heathcote Domain, the early pilgrims’ route to the Canterbury Plains. Last evening, about 150 persons strolled through Lyttelton for two hours, singing ] Christmas carols, and carol■ling for departing passengers (on the Rangatira | The vicar of Holy Trinity (The Rev. David Boyd) said
that parishioners from th* Heathcote Anglican Chuich met the group from Lytteltor at the Bridle Path summit and accompanied them dowr the other side. Both parishes held a picnic in Heathcote in the company of the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rex W. A. Pyatt) after his attend ante at the morning service A garden party and openair service of thanksgiving were held in Lyttelton yesterday afternoon.
