A temperature reading of 35.4 deg., the highest in December since 1935, was recorded in Christchurch on Saturday. The previous highest December reading was 33.5 deg. The temperature was 34 deg. at noon, and rose to 35.4 deg. between noon and 1 p.m. It is the highest reading this summer.
