Medical aid for Arabs
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Eight gallons and a half of eye-drops were in the baggage of a Wellington eye specialist, Dr Randall Elliott, and his wife, Pauline, when they left New Zealand on Friday for two months volunteer service in a Jerusalem hospital. The drops and other medical supplies for Jerusalem are the gifts of drug firms and Medical Aid Abroad. Dr Elliott will relieve two doctors at the hospital. He is the principal medical officer for the Order of St John in New Zealand and Mrs Elliott, who will assist him at the hospital, is taking leave from her position of charge sister of the orthopaedic ward at Wellington Hospital. St John’s Hospital treats more than 100,000 patients a year, most of them Arabs.
