Genealogy advice
Advice on tracing family histories and recording ancestry is available from the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, which has a branch in Christchurch. The society, which is nonpolitical, non-sectarian, and non-profitmaking, aims to encourage the study of family history and allied subMiss U. J. Melville, a member of the society, said that although the society did not do research, it would give advice about the source of material which was available, and would advise members how to record the: information once it was! found. Miss Melville was commenting on an article in I “The Press” on December 6! by Chris Greenless, who suggested that everyone should try to preserve family records, and suggested ways of doing it.
