MAN DIES AFTER RESCUE
(N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON. A Grey town man who; swam out to assist twol women who had got into I difficulties in the Ruama- j hanga River, near Morisons Bush, on Sunday afternoon, drowned a short time later. The dead man was Allan Barry Cresswell, aged 58, of Mam Street, Greytown. i The Masterton police said I the dead man was with a group of people who were ■ swimming in the river at 'Morisons Bush about 2.45 p.m. Mr Cresswell went to I the assistance of two women who had apparently got out iof their depth in the river. He helped them back to the bank before swimming back jinto the river himself. A short time later Mr Cresswell was seen floating down the river. One of the group swam out, and brought him; back to the bank. Heart massage and mouth-j ito-mouth resuscitation werei ! given, but Mr Cresswell wasi .dead on arrival at Mastertoni 'Hospital. i
