Protest in Indonesia
(N.Z.P.A.Reuter—Copyright) JAKARTA. Dec. 9. Seventy protesting Indonesian youths marched to the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta today, and threatened to occupy it unless the Netherlands failed to end the siege of the Indonesian Consulate in Amsterdam by South Moluccan gunmen. The Dutch Ambassador (Mr Paul Jalink) received seven of the demonstrators, members of the Indonesian Youth National Committee, and told them that he would convey their theat to his Government.
The protesting delegation also offered to send replacements for the Indonesian hostages held in the consulate.
The youths also went to the Foreign Office to ask their own Government to break diplomatic relations with the Netherlands if the Dutch failed to end the occupation and dissolve the so-called Republic of South Moluccas, the “Gov-ernment-in-exile” established in the Netherlands by the Moluccans.
