Review low in priority
It was unfortunate that a review of the town-planning legislation had a low priority with successive governments, said the chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) at a meeting of the Canterbury Regional Planning Authority yesterday. For at least five years, regional planning authorities had been pressing for urgency for a review, he said. The outgoing Government had said that it would review the Town and Country Planning Act, but. had deferred consideration until the next session.
After considering a letter from the Auckland Regional Authority expressing concern at the delay in new planning legislation, the authority agreed to attend a meeting of all authorities on February 11 to prepare submissions to the Government.
