WELLINGTON,. The New Zealand Golf Association confirmed in principle at its council meeting yesterday that it would apply to stage the Eeisenhower Trophy tournament next year. The association chairman (Mr J. G. Slade) said that New Zealand had a good show of staging the tournament, which is being held in the South Pacific zone next year and Europe in 1978. The council approved an extra day of play for future national championships. The championships will now begin on a Monday, finishing the following Sunday instead of the. previous final day on Saturday. Dates lor the New Zealand tournament circuit for 1976-1977 confirmed: — Nov. 11-14, Meadowsfreight Classic (Lochicl, Hamilton); Nov. 17-21, Airlines Classic (Russley, Cliristcliurcli); Nov. 24-28:. Otago Charity Classic (St Clair. Dunedin); Dec. 2-5, New Zealand Open (Heretaunga, Wellington); Dec. 8-12, City of Auckland Classic (The Grange. Auckland); Dec. 29-Jan. 2, P.G.A. Championship (Mt Maunganui, Tauranga). The council also changed the venue of the 1976 South Island championship from the Otago club’s course to Alexandra. Otago can not now stage the event.
