Tne champion Friesian cow. Tahora Linmack Lara, owned by J, J. and J. A. Geddes, would hold its own at any show in the world, said the Australian judge of the Friesians (Mr K. Haxesi yesterday. It would be verv hard to breed a cow like her. said Mr Hayes, who himself has shown five winners of Royal championships at Sydney Royal shows. It was interesting that two of Linmack Lara's progeny now’ both 'eariings, won first and second placing* in their class. One also won the junior yearling championship Linmack Lara has now been champion Friesian cow at the Canterbury show for four successiNe years, and four times al! breeds champion She has twice been the champion market milk cow. Her top production has been put at 18.9681 b of milk. In a 5 per cent test as a sixn ear-old. she showed 9281 b fat in 305 dajs. She is now seven.

Hr Hayes said that entries in the Friesian section were 288. one of the largest sections in dairy classes any where in New Zealand.

Generally, the standard of the Friesian cattle was very high, said Mr Ha\es. especially in the females. Udders were in exceptional condition
