APPRENTICE TO APPEAL

The New Zealand apprentice jockey, Brian Harris, is to appeal against a two-year suspension imposed yesterday by Melbourne stewards for his riding of Tossa at Moonee Valley last week. Tossa ran some 30 lengths behind the pacemakers in the Lindsay Gordon Steeplechase, and It was only in the last 800 m that he moved up quickly to finish fifth.
