Sideshow prize

Sir, — I would like to warn those who go to the Industries Fair with the intention of trying to win a prize at the shooting sideshows. My son, aged 14, scored eight out of eight at one; it cost him $l.OO. He decided, for his prize, to have two torches. The batteries were not included. We have tried to buy batteries in several shops, but have been told by all that the battery that fits the torch is now obsolete. Are the public permitted to be “had” in this fashion?—Yours, etc., J.G.H. ' ■ September 5, 1975. [Mr I. D. Howell, director: of the Canterbury Manufacturer’s Association, re-: plies: “The batteries for these torches are an imported bat-j tery, No. 712. At present) there is a shortage because, the last shipment was faulty, i but I would suggest ‘J.G.H.’ contacts the Medical* and 'Dental Supply Company, Ltd. which will be able to supply when new stocks arrive.”]
