Cannabis seized
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. Police and customs officers seized $48,000 worth of cannabis sticks carried in the false bottoms of two suitcases, at Auckland International Airport, last night. The cannabis was allegedly found in the baggage of a 33-year-old woman who left an incoming flight from Sydney. It weighed 12kg, and is understood to be of high quality. Detective Chief Inspector P. Gentry, head of the Auckland drug squad, said the search was made of the woman’s baggage as a result of information received from one of the Australian police forces. Inquiries, some of them overseas, were still continuing.
