Seminar on ‘quality of life’ urged
A seminar on the basic [causes of breakdown in comimunity life may be conducted lin Christchurch in February, by Professor P. Hodge, a world authority on community studies from the University of Hong Kong. The seminar was recommended on Tuesday by the City Council’s social services and public relations committee. In July, Cr B. Alderdice had asked about the possibility of public discussions on how to maintain the “quality of life” in the city. Cr Alderdice said the seminar might help the council to set long-term goals instead of just patching where problems develop. Mr K. R. Daniels, the senior lecturer-in-charge of a new social work diploma and masters programme to be introduced at the University of Canterbury next year, said the seminar would be useful.
