Chelsea Tower’s trip in doubt
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Chelsea Tower and Charger, two of the favoured horses for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, may not make the trip. Their trainer, Eric Templeton, said at Otaki yesterday that a decision would be made today. Both horses are booked to fly out of Auckland on Saturday. Chelsea Tower has this week been suffering from a minor foot injury and was scratched from his engagement at the OtakiMaori meeting yesterday. His regular attendant. Christine Thompson, spent yesterday at the stables at Awapuni bathing the horse’s foot, but if there is no improvement by today his trin will be cancelled. There was nothing wrong with Charger, Temperton said, but he is "nlikelv to travel. Miss Thompson took Silver Knight to Australia when he won the Melbourne Cup in 1971 and ' she was also in charge of ‘Magnilique. when she finished! (second in 1972.
