Dog patrols increased
I Stern measures against ■ wandering dogs started in the Christchurch suburbs yesterday as City Council dog rangers patrolled with radio-telephones. Because of a recent change in by-laws, the city can dispose of dogs seven days after impounding them. Two new dog rangers have been appointed, doubling the staff.
Rangers will try to cover the entire city once a fortnight, concentrating on trouble spots. Even before the change,’ patrols ■were impounding one dog in 12 each year. The City Council will advertise impounded dogs daily.
