New bowls trophy
A new bowls trophv will be presented to the Christchurch centre today. It is the John Anderson Memorial Shield, which will be awarded each year to the winners of the centre’s Christmas fours tournament.
John Anderson was a leading Canterbury bowler before his death three years ago. and the shield has been given by his family. It was designed by his eldest son.
The shield will be given to the centre at the Linwood club, at which Anderson played. There will then be a second presentation. The first wijiiners, appropriately, were a [Linwood four, which won last year’s Christmas tournament. The team was Glen Thompson, Arthur Wilkinson. Brian Smith and Ken Murray (s).
